This Main Library Is The Center For Spain

The Madrid Biblioteca Nacional is necessary to visit for the vacationer’s attractions list. If you don’t stop and visit for at least an hour you’ll really be missing something special. Usually a visit to a library isn’t the idea of a great holiday. But, the Biblioteca Nacional neoclassical design that is near the Plaza de Coln in the Alonso Martnez district. This plaza and its fountain commemorate the explorer Cristbal Coln (his bane in Spanish, and who the world knows as Christopher Columbus. The Biblioteca Nacional is composed of three archways. A tour of the Biblioteca Nacional, will show you that this is Spain’s chief library, and facilitates the Spanish Library System. The library was built during the eighteen hundreds at the request of Isabel II, this library holds more than five million books. For those traveling the world’s great centers, this may not be the largest book repository in the world. But, undeniably the finest collection of Spanish volumes anywhere.

While on tour, try to imagine meeting one of the numerous royal patrons who have taken advantage of these storage facilities, as you stroll the hallways.
