If you are looking for an entrepreneur type of job and are creative with a flair for design you may want to consider starting your own business designing for small businesses. Branding is a very important part of marketing for any type of business yet many do not take advantage of this form of advertising. Discover how to make money with logo designs for companies in need of their own branding tool.

The use of a picture can go a long way in branding a company. The simple image of an apple with a bite out of it is a good example of how Apple created a powerful icon that is recognized by most people. Nike’s Swoosh is another example of how a simple image can make a powerful connection to a name brand.

To get started you will need to find a good graphic program to work with. You can find several free sites that offer tools for creating custom logos but you will find most of these services very limiting. You can find inexpensive software programs that are easy to work with and will give you great results. Try doing a search for a review site of design software and select one that will work best for you.

Your first challenge will be to design your own logo for your new business. Be creative and express your talent with your personal branding. Once you have you design finished have it printed up on business cards with your personal contact information and start passing them out to every person you come in contact with. You will be surprised at where the cards may end up and can be a form of the best type of advertising which is word of mouth marketing.

Set up a simple website for your new business and list it with Google Places. You will need a physical address to list with Google but if you work out of your home you can use that address. Just be sure when you set up with Google Places that you indicate you do not wish for the address to be public.

With your website up and your business cards in place you are ready to start finding your first clients. Your customer base can be found in local companies as well as online businesses. Any person doing business without a personal company logo is your target.

A simple and effective way to find businesses in need of your services is to use Google Places as a tool. If you have a particular area that you are interested in focusing on do a local search on Google. As an example Florist companies may interest you because you are really good with floral designs. Your search will bring up a list of local florists with links to their websites.

Companies that make the effort to list on Google Places are showing that they are aware of the value of marketing and may be more receptive to the idea of needing a design for their business for branding purposes. This method makes it easy to check sites for companies who have no logo. Jot down all pertinent information for future contact.

For a more personal touch you can visit the local places and hand them your business card and introduce your services. An email to distant companies noting that you did not see a logo on their site with an offer to work with them to resolve that problem may help get a few clients. Keeping your initial contact short and sweet can work to your benefit for busy business owners.

Learn as much as you can about your client and his business before starting your designs. Present several options for them to look at instead of just a single design. They may decide they like one and go with it or ask you to make minor modifications to meet their expectations and desires.

Decide in advance how you want to charge for your services. You can base you fees on an hourly rate or per job. Consider offering a discount to any customer who uses your design on their website if they provide an acknowledgment that their logo was designed by you with a link to your website. You may also want to consider working with a printing company and offering full packages of new business cards and stationary printed with their newly designed logo.

Designing logos is fun and profitable but you have to watch out for expenses to creep up. Use the AT&T uverse promotions here and you can save quite a bit on a necessary expense.
