Raising your productivity is all about knowing how to be as organized as possible so that you can get more done during the day. If you want to increase your productivity levels, keep reading for tips on how best to create your daily to-do list.
Get the Worst Done First: Just about the biggest challenge you’ll have to work through as you write your to-do list is actually taking real action. It is very easy to get distracted when you don’t focus on taking good action and that means you could wind up leaving lots of your to-do list undone at the end of the day. Now, in order to combat this problem, you need a high level of motivation and the zeal to succeed. The best way to bring in this motivation is to get done with the most difficult task on your list first. That’s right: list them at the top of your list and then tackle them as soon as you start your day. Since your energy and productivity levels are higher at the start of your day, it’s easier to take on the hard stuff. Also, knowing that the worst on your list is done helps you feel more relaxed and enthusiastic about taking on the rest of your list.
Set Your Rest Breaks: If you work continuously for long periods of time you’ll have a diminished mental and energy reserve. So if you want to be able to move easily from one task to the next on your list, it is important to schedule a “rest break” after finishing each of the tasks (or sets of tasks) so that you can reinvigorate yourself and find the energy to keep working. However, be sure that you keep your rest breaks short or you could be accidentally reducing your productivity. The main goal in this situation is to keep your energy levels charged up so that you will be able to get through your day and actually finish the tasks mapped out for you on your to-do list.
Effective Preparation: Sometimes making a to-do list into something successful depends on how much prep you can do. If you have effectively prepared yourself, you will find that your to-do list is a lot easier because you’ll know exactly what to do. Let’s pretend that you have included “write 5 articles” as a line item on your to-do list. Wouldn’t it be a lot easier for you if you actually do your research in advance before putting the item on your list. It absolutely does! When you put in enough prep work, the rest of your work is mostly done.
Overall, your aim should be to get it done today at any cost and finish off your to-do list, and if for some reason it doesn’t work out then there’s always a tomorrow.
