How To Get Traffic To Your Blog In 15 Easy Steps

By Hans Hvass

In this article we hope to give you useful information on how to get more traffic to your blog. Useful for both beginners and you who have had a blog for a longer period of time and wish to see more traffic.

1. Google owns WordPress, which means that WordPress is made to work optimally with the Google search bot. So… use WordPress if you want it optimally indexed by Google.

2. You should write articles that are useful. As an experiment, pretend you are someone else reading your article. Is it useful to you? Can it help you fulfill a need or satisfy a curiousity?

3. Write content which is timeless. What you write should also apply in 10 years! The more timeless the deeper the level of truth in your article. Make your blog writing an extension of your soul.

4. Writing 10-15 articles about a certain niche is useful. This is good to establish you as a budding expert in that niche. I find that writing one article is not enough to make you sure in the subject matter. Only when you approach 10-15 articles do you start to get a deeper knowledge about the subject.

5. Posting a new article each day makes the search engines visit your site. Search engines rank frequently updated blogs high up in the rank list.

6. SEO changes constantly. In 2010 huge content blogs are in. Putting links in the top of your article to other pages in your site helps you to rank high. Place your keywords in the start of the title and make sure they are generously present in the first 200-300 words of your article. 20% of the text should be the keywords or keyword related.

7. Unique Article Wizard is King! This service submits unique versions of your article to hundreds of directories. They use an impressive well thought of system to do this.

8. Make the starting of your new blog a happening! Announce it on social media platforms

9. Make squeeze pages to get hold of your visitors email adresses. Offer a free ebook, mp3 or piece of software and a newsletter in return for their email adress. When they receive your newsletter they will be constantly reminded about your blog and return.

10. Use traffic software and online tools to increase traffic to your blog. For example ping-o-matic which you can use to ping search engines when you make a new post. Another useful tool is the “related websites plugin” which is a link module in your word press which enables visitors to surf to like sites.

11. Read other blogs that are in your niche and make comments to them, but good comments! Remember, always quality above quantity. People will instinctively follow the link to your site.

12. If you have other websites remember to link to your blog from all the pages on that website.

13. Make sure that you have a RSS feed URL so people can follow your article updates and read your newest articles through programs called news readers.

14. Analyze your blog – Rinse and Repeat Which are your most popular articles and why? Is it the topic or the style of the post? Perhaps it’s the title or the image. Was it controversial perhaps or very humoristic? Also analyze which are the top sources bringing traffic to your site – is it search engines or social networking sites. Which keywords do people use to find your site? Google analytics is very useful for this. Make an account in Google and place tracking code in the footer of your wordpress code.

15. Work at it! Never give up. Give yourself a timeframe of 3 months where you add a post every day. In 3 months your site will have 90 articles. That is not bad. Once you have traffic to your site you can start thinking about monetizing it. But first of all create traffic and ensure that the quality is good.
