The demand for reliable daycare has increased recently due to the economic climate and the need for parents to work longer hours. People are more inclined to use a day care center near to their home instead of close to their workplace.

If you would like to start a daycare service, then carry on reading.

Firstly, you will require a lot of relevant information for starting and maintaining a child care center. Note down all the action that is recommended and obtain vital reference information. Use the results of your market research to create a business plan.

Verify market demand in your local area for daycare. Speak to neighbours and others to find out the hours when families need your services and base your opening hours on the majority results. Start off lightly and increase your hours of operation as you get more customers.

The state has requirements and you will need to make sure that you are in compliance with them. Such requirements include insurance, registration, employee credentials and you will also need a license. You must also make sure you have a first aid qualification. At all times, you will need to have health details and contact information with you concerning every child in your daycare.

Prepare a policy for the collection of children at the end of the day including what action to take when a child is not collected on time.

Determine your fees and acceptable methods of payment. Payment in advance will enable you to have money available for the purchase of food and other supplies.

Lunch is usually required for full time daycare with morning and afternoon tea also being a requirement. If breakfast and dinner are required, you can an additional amount for them. You should offer the best quality food and cater to specific dietary requirements.

You can then advertise in local newspapers or spreading your news about your daycare by word of mouth. Some business owners promote door to door in their neighborhood. Methods like this can provide you with an inexpensive way to introduce your new daycare to the community. Design a good looking flyer using the best paper and ink showing your business name, prices, services and address where the daycare will be. Remember to include your phone number, website and e-mail address on this paper.

Provide a safe environment for the children. Check with your local council for the safety requirements. Children need a daily schedule that is variable, educational and age appropriate. Cleaning toys, play areas and kitchen equipment frequently will help you to keep a hygienic environment. Parents like to know what their child has been doing while in your care so write down some notes in a diary.

Keep updating your business plan to take into account the evolution in your business. Decide if you want to continue operating your business from home or move to bigger premises and employ extra staff.
