Even though network marketing is still seen as a controversial business model, it has attracted the recommendation of some well known entrepreneurs. Both Donald Trump and business coach Robert Kiyosaki endorse it. Criticized as another pyramid scheme to scam the unwary, this type of system is now over 50 years old. Regardless of those who still deride it, it is now adopted by many companies as an efficient method of bring products to market.

Like other businesses, there are good ones and bad ones. Multi level marketing can fail for you if you have not done the necessary research on the company you intend to join. Without this homework, and a basic understanding of how MLM works, your business venture has the possibility of failure.

Find out the business record of the founders, and join with only those whose reputation and business record is exemplary. Look for a company that has been in business for several years, and has a good support and training system set up for new recruits. Does it have a product line that people want and need? Just checking out these four factors will increase your chances for success.

One of the biggest problems new recruits to network marketing face is how to generate new leads. They are told by their sponsors to make a list of everyone they know, including family and friends and acquaintances. What they find is some will look at the products and become customers. One or two may decide to give the business a try. Others will want to rescue them from ‘that pyramid scheme.’

Unrealistic expectations and not understanding or believing in the necessary work involved, many will not succeed. Others fail because of lack of knowledge and training. With the right training from the company, a successful lead generation process can bring in new leads, customers and recruits. Without a system most will fail.

With the power of the internet, there are now many ways to attract new leads. Start by setting up your own website or blog. Exchange links with other net-workers and entrepreneurs, and join online marketing groups. Offer a free report or training e-course in exchange for signing up on your website. Make sure your offer is a valuable one, and is geared to helping people solve a problem.

Include a sign-up box on every page of your website. Perhaps you could start a newsletter, that people would subscribe to. Have subscriptions handled by an auto-responder. As people see you offer timely information and valuable training on a continual basis, you will earn their trust and become a more credible possible business partner.

Write and post articles on article directories. By sharing some of your network marketing expertise, you will get free exposure as others pick up and publish your articles. As long as your articles offer something valuable, controversial or interesting, you will have people visit your website to find out more.

Always follow up with customers and new leads. A personalized thank you card is more memorable than an email. Later communication can offer a discount through a coupon code, or just inform about new offers or products. Continually build on relationships.

By approaching network marketing in a business like manner, you will find it can be a great way to becoming your own boss. Take the opportunity to learn from the expert training your chosen company offers. Study business coaches to learn strategies for networking, making sales and always believe in your ability as a business owner. By acting like a professional, you will soon become one.
