There is way more to email marketing than to send customers a monthly newsletter. You can increase sales quite substantially by incorporating email into your sales process.

In the next year, you’ll meet many people that may not be ready to buy from you right at that moment. If you use email to keep in touch when they are ready to buy, they think of you first.

1. Lead nurturing. Lead nurturing is the process of sending a series of emails over a specific time frame. The level of frequency will increase the level of trust between you and your prospects. The more trust there is, the easier you are to do business with.

2. Tradeshow followup. Leads acquired at a tradeshow are notoriously under utilized. Usually by the time you or your reps contact these leads they have gone from hot to cold. Use a lead nurturing program to keep them interested.

3. Follow up on cold calls. When you do make cold calls you usually end the call with “Good Bye.” Ask instead, “May I add you to our email list to keep in touch?” Often the response will be a yes and you can start a trust-building lead nurturing program.

4. White paper offer on website. On your website make sure you offer a good white paper or free report in exchange for an email address. If the information is valuable and the offer is well written, you will build a list of interested prospects.

5. A free report on your business card. The back of your business card can be used to offer a free report in exchange for an email address. Then use a lead nurturing process to keep in touch. Now your business card is working to get you more leads.

Using email marketing in combination with other marketing activities enhances both. Get the jump on your competition and start doing these things before they do.
