SEO Web Hosts with Class-C IP Addresses
By Neal Walters
What is the role of Class-C IP address in “SEO Web Hosting”? When optimizing your sites for the search engines, most SEO experts focus on building a large number of backlinks. Most experts believe that these links should be from diverse geographical locations.
In general, you want many linkbacks with appropriate keywords, but you don’t want them all coming from the same IP Address. An “IP Address” is a unique address that represents each website on the web. There are four numbers between 0 and 255, and they typically like something like this: 201.55.98.1.
Your web hosting company assigns a unique IP address to your website when you set it up. But when you have many accounts at the same hosting company, the first part of your IP address is often the same, for example: 202.54.97.1, 202.54.97.100, and 202.54.97.200. You can to make sure the first two or three numbers in the IP address are different.
You don’t need to fully understand all the technical details about Class-C IP address. You just need to make sure that your links DO come from DIFFERENT Class-C addresses. You want them to look like they are coming from different independent websites, owned by different people, even in different parts of the world.
Some internet marketers put all their important websites on different hosting companies. This is typically too expensive, especially if they pay for web sites individually, plus, it is a big pain to track where everything is hosted. Some marketers “stack” their websites into “hubs”, or “rings”, where each site in the “hub” has a different Class-C address.
Those internet marketers building a large number of websites will almost always use reseller hosting accounts, in which you can (using WHM – Web Hosting Manager) set up as many domains as desired with each hosting company. Each individual account you create will have it’s own userid/password, and each will be administered using CPanel (Control Panel).
SEOHosting.com is one potential but expensive solution, costing between $5 to $7 per month per domain. However, their special Web Host Manager (WHM) allows you to select a unique class-C IP address for each of your domains. SEOHosting.com is a nice and easy solution, but there are definitely more affordable solutions.
Recently, I stumbled upon the website in the resource box below. They offer reseller hosting with a special control panel for resellers. It allows the reseller to assign the website to one of 10 locations. Each location is geographically diverse, and does have a unique Class-C IP address.
