Which Is Better: Automated or Manual Directory Submissions?
By Nick Mires
If you are already aware of the SEO and ranking benefits of properly done directory submissions then you must have noticed that most link building service providers offer both automated and manual directory submission services. You might get a little confused thinking which way to go.
If you noticed these two types of submission packages by link building service providers, then you must have also noticed that you get less amount of submission for higher fees. With automated submission, you get your site submitted to more directories for less fees. It is logical to think that more is better and since you are getting more submission done for less fees, then that’s the way you should go. You could not be any more wring!
The reason you should go with manual directory submission is because all good and reputable directories have their own custom application script where you must submit to them manually. Automated tools cannot fill in those unique forms on the fly therefore cannot submit to them. Directory submission tools usually end up submitting to lower quality directories that are run by over the counter public scripts that any average Joe can grab to start their own web directory in just matter of an hour or two. While the submission tool can fill the forms on those submit pages, they sometimes fail to fill the date properly thereby giving us an incomplete submission. In this kind of situation, the tool will result in a report claiming that the submission was successful where in reality the submission didn’t even go through. If the category was from skin care to beauty, the tool will fail as well. There are many other reasons for which you will get less successful submission with tools.
It is therefore recommended that you pay more for manual submission not only to get the high success rate but also to get links form higher quality directories that pass more link juice to your site. Select a link building service provider accordingly.
In conclusion, automated submissions create much more problems than manual submissions, and for that reason manual submissions should be preferred.
