An Introduction To Wedding Planning
So you’ve been to your local bookstore, surveyed the rather large collection of wedding books and wondered how anyone even gets through this whole planning process… and why all those wedding planning books are so thick!
This is completely understandable – it is a bit on the daunting side. Planning a wedding is definitely not something you can throw together in a matter of days, and there will certainly be quite a few projects along the way to keep you busy.
On the other hand, achievers would not be able to resist the challenge. Some who loves challenges will even welcome the opportunity.
Most importantly, keep things SIMPLE.
You have to remember everything, make decisions, talk with the photographer and the caterer, choose wedding favors, etc. Go with your gut feeling and make quick decisions. That would be one less matter to attend to.
Prepare a simple recording system.
Categorize your transactions and make an individual file of each containing all the pertinent papers, receipts, and reminders. If you want a systematic filing system and would not mind the extra cost of $20 to $30, you can buy a labeler at the nearby bookstore. Mark the folders containing the different groupings, e.g., catering, guest lists, the entourage, venues, etc.
Don’t wait for tomorrow what you can do today. Begin tackling items on your wedding checklist.
Look at the first group of to-do’s on the list. Don’t attempt to do so much at the same time, instead decide what you can realistically do and accomplish every given day, and schedule the rest of the tasks for the succeeding days.
Don’t do everything by yourself.
If some relatives or friends offer their help, be glad and take advantage of the opportunity, otherwise you may even ask them to take on some assignments. Look for activities that you don’t have to do by yourself and can safely delegate to others so you can focus on the more important matters.
Enjoy the challenge.
Not everything will be hard or difficult, some will be a breeze and you can have plenty of time for a leisurely and relaxing visit to the spa. Also, consider subscribing to one or more bridal magazines – when you think you’ve run out of wedding ideas, these glossy guides are a great pick-me up.
Be cool as a cucumber and don’t panic when things seem to go out of control.
Everything will get done, in due time, and you’ll see all of your hard work pay off when things really start to come together. Have a good time and start the ball rolling.
