Be Smart Picking That Engagement Ring! Tips For Picking The Perfect Ring

By Jenni Sybis

Okay, stating that your life depends upon picking out the right engagement ring might be a little extreme. But not by much! You really need to keep in mind that this is a big deal.

At no point in the process should you allow yourself to be lulled into thinking that your ring selection and your proposal are not a big deal, because they are. Screw this up and you will never hear the end of it. Long lost relatives and friends that you have never heard of before may pop in to evaluate your ring selection.

Ask For Advice. Many men mistakenly turn to their friends for help. Some men have a great eye for art, style and fashion. However, just keep in mind who it is you are asking for help! Don’t ask your buddy Phil whose idea of style is a clean t-shirt that says, “Me Drink Beer,” to help you pick out an engagement ring. Phil may try his best, but you seriously don’t want Phil along for this particular ride, do you?

Find Dependable Advice. Selecting a ring is one of those occasions where it’s okay for a man to ask for a little help. In fact on this occasion, you’re probably a look crazy if you don’t. If you have can other dependable perspectives on shopping for a ring, then you probably want to take them up on it.

Remember Who Will Be Wearing the Ring. More than likely, you will not end up wearing this ring. Instead, your future wife will wear the ring, or at least you hope. So keep this fact held firmly in your mind when you are evaluating your different possible selections.

If you are able to find a ring that you think she would pick out, then you might be good to go. Just keep asking yourself whether or not she would like a particular ring. When you find the one that you know she will love, just cross your fingers and hope you can afford it.
