How To Keep Your Cool On The Hottest Day Of Your Life.

By Kevin McKay

Weddings are beautiful, exciting, fun, expensive, overwhelming, and stressful. As the bride-to-be, how do you make sure you stay calm on the biggest day of your life. Here are a few things to keep in mind to help you keep things in perspective and so you can enjoy your wedding day.

Be Prepared

You start planning your wedding the day after he slips that diamond ring on your finger, and that is the first step to making sure you’re calm on your wedding day. Whether you are going to hire a wedding planner or youre going to take care of the details yourself, managing the event is ultimately your job.

A wedding itself is really just one big project. If you want your wedding to be perfect, you will need to do the work for it. Even it you want to keep it small, there a still a million little details to manage and track. Does your caterer know that most of the bridal party is vegetarian? Does your florist know that the pink roses are supposed to match the pink fabric of the bridesmaid’s dresses? Have you considered where you’re going to hold your garden wedding if it rains?

Listen to people

A wedding is about making a million decisions, and most of them are all on you. So rather than gluing every decision onto your shoulders, it’s time to listen to the professionals and take their advice. The florist, caterer, and dressmaker will all have suggestions to save money, flatter your appearance, and give you the best deal that you can afford.

Whether it’s after your fifteenth argument with the caterer about what exactly constitutes a vegetarian meal, or when your make-up artist tells you that she will be in Alaska on your wedding day, there comes a time when every bride-to-be needs to ask for help. This is the time to turn to your friends and family. It is also why you have a maid of honor. Despite popular belief, she’s not simply there to stand next to you at the alter, she’s actually supposed to help you plan the wedding. But if you want to ask for help and also take the opportunity to diffuse a traditionally rocky relationship, ask your mother-to-be for her assistance. This gives you the perfect chance to build a solid relationship with your husband-to-be’s mother.

You Can’t Control Everything

For as long as you’ve been organizing your wedding, you’ve been planning to introduce your best friend and your company accountant. You expected them to hit it off, but then you notice that he’s dancing with one of your husband’s cousins and your best friend is sitting by herself at the bar. This is the time to realize that there are some things that aren’t meant to be. Many brides, having spent months in control mode ordering people around, forget that they simply can’t control everything. But remember the most important thing – this is your wedding day. So forget about everybody else, grab your new husband by the hand, and hit the dance floor.
