Father’s of the bride all have a complex position at their daughter’s wedding. There are mixed feelings of love, happiness, and sadness realizing his little girl is all grown up and has a life of her own. Plus he’s giving his daughter to another man. Your speech should reflect how you feel about your daughter.

It’s a time when fathers have to accept it’s time to let their daughter go and welcome a new man in her life and your family. Your speech should express your thoughts with humor and sincerity. It should come from your heart because you’re the only one who knows how you feel.

The father of the bride has to prepare his father of the bride speech speech to show how happy he is for his daughter. Not an easy task because it should be a speech with a pinch of humor, a little sadness, and lots of joy. The speech should try not to embarrass anyone, especially his daughter or new son in law. It’s great to talk about her growing up, what he hope she’ll have, and moments from family outings, teaching her to ride a bike, or any anecdotes that are appropriate for the wedding.

Use short stories that are especially precious to you and your daughter. Use humor when talking about your new son in law or how you felt when you first met him. You can also express how you feel about him and hope he takes care of your little girl. Be careful not to embarrass him or put him on the spot.

The father of the bride will sometimes be the master of ceremonies. It also means you’ll have to step in when there are little problem but can be solved with a word or two. The best man sometimes takes this role.

Since your speech is usually one of the first wedding speeches you can set the tone of the following speeches. One thing to remember is to thank the guests for attending the wedding and use flattery for the bride and groom’s attendants. It’s also suitable to include advice on married life and some examples of what you learned through your life.

Successful father of the bride speeches come easy for some but for others there are professionals who can give you a checklist or prepare a draft. It’s not easy to remember everyone in your speech. Remember, you only get to be the father of the bride once or twice in your life, so make it the best speech you can.
